How to Connect to an AWS WorkSpace
When connecting to an AWS Workspace for the first time, you will need the following pieces of information.
- AWS WorkSpace client (Windows / Mac).
- You can download the AWS WorkSpace client from this page: https://clients.amazonworkspaces.com/ .
- AWS WorkSpace registration key (provided by your IT vendor / department).
- AWS WorkSpace username (provided by your IT vendor / department).
- AWS WorkSpace password (provided by your IT vendor / department).
- Each AWS WorkSpace is configured for single user access, but that user can have multiple screens open in their session.
- Each AWS WorkSpace will map the local workstation printers to the AWS WorkSpace. If you are having problems printing to your local printers, please check the configuration with your IT vendor / department.
- Each AWS WorkSpace can be configured to sync files from the local workstation to / from the AWS Workspace.
- For this to work, you will need to install AWS WorkDocs / WorkDocs Drive client from this page: https://amazonworkdocs.com/en/clients
Step-by-step guide
- Download and install the AWS Client.
- Enter the registration key provided by your IT vendor / department.
- When presented with the logon pages, enter your AWS logon username and password.
- Click on the "Sign In" button.
- Depending on the type of AWS WorkSpace account that you have, two things will happen:
- If you have an "always on" account, you will be connected to your WorkSpace in a matter of moments.
- If you have an "on demand" account, you will need to wait for 2-3 minutes for Amazon to activate your WorkSpace. Then you will be connected to your WorkSpace.
