How to add shipping to a job
You can add shipping to a “job” or "load" in the Dispatch / Main menu.
This document focuses on how you add shipping to a job (however the process for a load is identical.
You can add shipping to any job in Dispatch, by clickin on a job to open it, or right click on the job to open the job.
This will launch the “Job” screen in edit mode.
Click on the Shipping “action", this is the fourth button on the list of actions.
If you already have a truck, driver and trailer on the job, it will auto pick them when the screen starts up.
In the example below, the system does the following by default.
- Chooses the sailing date, which equals your first collection date, selects the default route from the list.
- Defaults the sailing as “artic” and inserts the vehicle data into the fields.
- Pre-selects the cost, adds a driver.
This gets the form ready for a quick booking, if you have “integration” with a ferry company.
If you don't have integration, simply fill in the Shipping Reference from the Ferry Website and click the save button, it will ask you to confirm. Click ok.
If you don't confirm the sailing the system will allow you to go back into the software and confirm the sailing reference later.
This process allows you to update the dispatch screen with Ferry Data.
When the details are saved, the ferry shows on the screen as booked.
The route can also be displayed on the dispatch screen.
This makes the shipping decisions highly visible.
The planning leads can see the ferry route(s) required, what’s booked and what’s not in a few simple clicks.
In Summary
- Select the “Add shipping” add the route and type of ferry required.
- Enter the “shipping ref” to confirm on dispatch, that its booked or not.
- Use the “shipping route” column on dispatch to show the route(s).
